At Emerald Goddess Gardens, we are dedicated to providing exceptional products and growing tips that reflect our home-grown values. As a third-generation, female-owned and operated small business, family is one of the most crucial aspects of what we do. We take great pride in preserving the forgotten histories of the heirloom plants we cultivate. The green thumb gene may run in our family, but our success stems from the decades of hands-on experience that we share with each other and our customers.
Our diverse, predominantly female team works in a flexible environment tailored to their needs. The individuals who carefully select plants for our orders are an integral part of the family that our matriarch has built, comprising women from varied economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
Many of our most prized plants are those that are hard to find or no longer exist in nature. Maintaining stocks of endangered and rare species allows us to increase accessibility for all, while contributing to conservation efforts through commercial reproduction. Native species diversity and protection are paramount to us. We take meticulous steps to ensure we never inadvertently transport invasive insects or plant pathogens, qualifying us to ship plants to all 50 states year-round.
The Emerald Goddess Gardens family continues to grow as we establish and nurture relationships with customers nationwide. Welcome to the family – let's start growing!
Tropical Hibiscus are not easy to grow indoors, requiring special attention to survive and bloom reliably. Inexperienced growers should thoroughly research the growing requirements before attempting to cultivate these plants indoors. Proper care includes providing bright, full-spectrum supplemental light, maintaining temperatures above 70°F, using a well-draining container with adequate airflow, increasing ambient humidity, and watering only when the top inch of soil becomes dry.
Tropical Hibiscus never fail to bring a luxurious, equatorial feel to any landscape. The Hibiscus genus is incredibly diverse, producing flowers ranging from teacup-sized to dinner plate-sized in nearly every color imaginable. Hibiscus are easily hybridized, constantly expanding the already wide array of flower types. Blooms typically last 1 to 3 days, but are continuously produced in tropical climates, creating a never-ending floral display.
Most Tropical Hibiscus reach maturity at 3 to 5 feet, with some varieties grown in standard tree forms that grow taller. Regular pruning of the terminal tips will encourage a full, bushy plant. These plants thrive in USDA Zones 9 - 11, but can be grown outside the recommended range with special care.
Our starter-size plants, shipped in 4-inch pots, are perfect for repotting and watching as they mature. We have decades of experience safely delivering live plants across the country, with preventative pest treatments, adequate water supply, and careful packaging to minimize transit stress. In the rare event of any issues, we are committed to resolving them promptly.
